Healthy Meal suggestions for LongHorn Steakhouse

My favorite steakhouse! The best steak I've experienced in my life was at this Longhorn. They had a 40 dollar steak meal for two, and we got it more to save money than anything. We expected high quality, as that's what's always delivered when you order a steak here, but we received godliness on a plate. A perfect temperature right above rare, but not quite medium-rare...the steak melted like butter beneath the knife, yet the fork didn't seem to want to pick up the piece...like it knew it was wrong to let even a drop of juice be spilled on the plate. Eventually the fork gave in, realizing we did not yet have the psychic capability to move a piece of steak unmolested to our mouths. He took the first bite...and I've never seen the man stop mid-chew when eating steak. I wasn't sure at first...was it too good to be true? Was it some wretched bargain-bin disappointment under all the grill marks and odd glow surrounding the steak? I gulped, and slowly took my first bite. ...no...NO! It was not a sham! I BELIEVE! The glow tripled in luminance! THE STEAK WAS NOT A LIE! ...sorry, got carried away there. But really, the steak was ah-mah-zing. I feel sort of bad saying it, but in ...light...of the steak, the rest of the meal felt lacking. Haha. The onion petals are perfect, the cocktails are always good (although quite expensive), the taters are real, and the asparagus has never been soggy or hard. The sweet tea is great, and the mojito is serious about the mint leaves. Some things are hit or miss, though... The stuffed mushrooms were really greasy one time, and then perfect another. The mac and cheese has been hard on top and dry inside, and then moist and melty the next time. The peak season selection is usually the best thing to get any time you want to try something new. I figured it was a gimmick the first time I ate there, but oh lordy...the peak season stuff is SO fresh. It's like there's silica packets or something in it, you just can't find a more...fresher...tasting anything. Oh, just looked at the site and they've got peak season blueberry lemon butter cake... Must...eat...Longhorn...now... Update: The calamari is AH-MAY-ZING! Seriously the best calamari I've ever had. They ditched the dry, powdery batter that most places use, and instead use a heavy, crispy and dark frying batter that gives the calamari a good crunch while keeping all the squiddy goodness inside flavorful and moist. Their sweet chili drizzle was the perfect amount of flavor to hot ratio, and while I can't handle heat, I still downed it bite after bite while draining my tea (which was great, too!) and turning red.

First time at Longhorn. We will definitely be back a lot. Tim was our server, he was attentive, but not over the top. He recommended some great chooses. I had the chicken with artichokes & sun-dried tomatoes he suggested adding feta it was wonderful. We ordered the watermelon margarita and Tim suggested the second one be the Strawberry margarita also awesome. My husband ordered the Prime rib sandwich and Tim suggested the prime rib burger it was so good. We know people also ask for a manager when they want to complain so we asked for the manager to tell him we had a wonderful meal. The managers name was Eric, he spend a few minutes talking to us and made us feel at home. He seemed to genuinely care about the restaurant and what we were saying. All restaurants should have managers like him. The cheese stuffed mushrooms are to die for. we will definitely be back. even if it is just for the apps & margaritas. Thank you Tim & Eric

Chain or no chain, the food here is very good, and always prepared the way I order it. Service is always friendly. And prices are reasonable. On Merritt Island, at least, this place beats Outback hands down! The best steakhouse on Merritt Island!

Amazing staff. Amazing food. The food Is absolutely amazing, and the staff is very kind and fun to talk to. I would suggest the outlaw ribeye for any new customers.

Whatever you do, don't agree to be seated in the bar at lunchtime on a weekday! The bartender/server is NOT a server by any stretch of the imagination! His lack of attention and irritated attitude ruined our meal! (i.e. had to get up and go get our own silverware; only re-filled ice tea for 1 of 2 people at table TWICE; forgot the bread when we'd ASKED for it; brought the check while we were still eating and never even asked if we'd like dessert - which we'd planned to order; and THEN, we had to WAIT FOR HIM to finally come back and take our credit card! It's as if he was doing us a favor by even being there! We won't be going BACK!

Fantastic service and the food was great. We will most certainly return. I have visited several locations all the way from California to Florida and find this particular one to be one of the best.

While helping a friend remodel his home in Merritt Island, we always seem to end up at Long Horn for dinner. I have one by my home in Orlando that I enjoy and this one is just as good. We normally are there on a saturday night around 7 pm (crunch time!) and have to wait about 15 min for a table but its fine since we end up at the bar and time flies by! The menu has many different options on it and they always seem to be running some sort of special that makes your mouth water just by looking at the pictures. I love meat... basic steaks that are cooked med rare... and they seem to always deliver a decent steak. I normally just get a Flo's cut (7oz), a sweet potato and some veggies. That plus the salad fills me up. I rarely get an appetizer or dessert but it does happen every now and then. Like every chain restaurant, the food should taste the same at each one so for me, what makes the difference is the service. The staff here at this LongHorn is very nice. They always seem to be smiling and they are fast with their service. We normally ask for the server Michael... he is fun and makes the dinner more interesting. All in all, this LongHorn is a good option for a nice dinner with friends and family! Atmosphere = 8 Food = 8 Service = 9 Enjoy!

As soon as I walked through the doors there was an off putting smell - the empty the grease trap because it's really full and fermenting smell. I had me worried about what I would find past the door, fortunately the meal was better - albeit only slightly. They did not have any of the Blue Moon beer and has to chose another beer (it's Saturday night and you've run out of one of your beers on draft??? Really??) My date had the a sirloin that was cooked as order and presented well on the plate. My Longhorn burger was good, but it was obvious that the pickle, lettuce, tomato, onion condiment had been prepared too early in the day - the lettuce was soggy and extremely wilted. I should has asked for a replacement but decided it would be too taxing for the oblivious staff. There were no less than 4 or 5 waiters that passed our table and none of them ever offered to take our dirty plates while we waited for the rain to stop. Our waiter seemed to be preoccupied with the table behind us. The food was maybe OK, the service was barely passable. I will go somewhere else next time, or stop by the store and cook my own. At least I'll know the lettuce and tomato will be fresh and I can buy the beer of my choice.

I didn't expect much. We came here because friends invited us to a birthday party. I haven't ate at a LongHorn for 10 years because the last one (a different restaurant) was such a disappointment. But our local Longhorn surprised me. The service was good, the food was very good and the atmosphere is about the same as you'd expect from any Longhorn. I had the prime rib so I could compare it to the Outback prime rib I had recently. It wasn't as good, but only because it was slightly over-seasoned. But...it was very good, where the Outback was great. Both were cooked perfectly. Prime rib lovers who order 'medium' know what this means. We had a great night with good friends, my drink was never empty and the server checked on us regularly. Good job Longhorn Merritt Island, nice to know that all Longhorns aren't the same. Nice to know we have two steak houses (Outback and Longhorn) in the area.

We eat at the Longhorn in Vieira often but for some reason this one is better. Both are excellent. Best bone in rib eye in any chain steak house.

Good food, good value. I go here twice a month. Love the chicken dishes and the seasoned rice and vegetables. The steaks are pricier, but they never disappoint. The service is great in the lounge, but iffy in the dining room.

Good steaks, good service, good sides. This was the first time I went to Longhorn and found that they had more options than I expected. I ordered a steak (it is a steakhouse) and it was cooked with no pink like I requested, but wasn't too dry like it sometimes is. Our waitress was friendly and attentive and the manager even came by to see if we enjoyed our meal.

The stuffed white cheddar mushrooms were a great start to the meal. My garlic herb crusted steak was cooked to a perfect medium rare but there was a bit too much fontina cheese smothering it. The mashed potatoes were creamy and pretty good. Our server seemed to be on his own time and not really on ours. I will definitely try it again to see if this was just an off night.

This place has amazing steaks and chicken. Oh, wow, carnivores rejoice! Our waitress, Melissa, was wonderful as well!

Nice, except for the steak. How can you do sides so well and yet fail on the steak? To go, as usual, on a Sunday afternoon. Order ready on time, prepared as requested and quickly delivered to the bar area for pick-up. Charged the correct amount, server was friendly. Yet upon arriving home, needed to get a brand new knife to cut thru the steak. Fat and such running across and down so that it became a chopped steak just to get enough to eat. Poorly butchered cut of meat ruined the meal. Teach your butchers or grind for burgers.

After conducting a lengthy arduous and rigorous interview I decided to celebrate by treating myself to a steak dinner. I had visited Longhorn Steakhouse in Connecticut on a previous trip and had such a favorable experience when I saw one on Merritt Island Causeway heading to my hotel I made a mental note of where it was. When I walked in there was no one manning the reception/waiting area. The bartender saw my shadowy figure in the entrance way and was so very nice to come and rescue me before I started to think about leaving and made sure I was seated and served. So kudos to her for great customer service! The downside was I was seated in a booth full of idiots who gave my server Alison C a very difficult time. I like their menu as I did not want to eat too much so I ordered the Flat Iron for $13.79 and added on the Grilled Corn Cob for the vegetable entrée. The grilled corn was precooked, then kissed on the hot gril and caramelized and then seasoned. I was so impressed I have replicated this side dish when I returned from my trip! For dessert I had the Peach Raspberry Tart to finish off the meal. Alison C. gave me excellent service event with all the drama in the next booth. I would recommend and would return!

I have no complaints about the food. However this is the second time I've been there this summer and both times our party has noticed a bad smell. I wasn't sure if it was the table or the floor (by the door). The dining room has carpet but there is a "dirty mop water" smell. Maybe it's the table after they bus it? As I said, the food was fine but the odor being there for the second time bothered me.

Very consistent with good food, service, and drinks. Steak is always great and they know how to not over cook them. It's my go to place for a great reasonably priced steak.
